Heya <<First Name>>,
I’ve learned to be wary of conversations with my sister.
She’s a nurse and she’s completely brilliant (she’s currently pursuing a doctorate of nursing practice).
But she’s also got a deeply irreverent sense of humor. Like, she’ll call just to tell me what happens when you get bit by a Brazilian wandering spider.
Then she’ll text a picture of the spider. Without warning me.
I was going to include one here, but frankly, it’s Shelob-level scary.
Our professional worlds don’t overlap much, but last week she sent me a screenshot from the book “Bright Futures,” by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Since that is really unappealing to read, I’ll share the key takeaway:
Reading aloud can enhance children’s social and emotional development while building brain circuits to prepare children to learn language and acquire early literacy skills.
I tell my sister how great this is, and that I’ll pass the message along.
Then I lower my guard. Big mistake.
“Hey,” she says. “Wanna know what happens to your feet if they stay damp too long?”
Noooooo.
Anyway …
Happy reading,
