We wanted to let you know that there are seven animals that AREN’T in the book. There just wasn’t room for them all.
Well, that, and the fact that some of them are completely made-up. Like the one below.
The idea for this first bonus creature came from one of our young readers, who wondered what would happen if you combined a centipede and a cow.
You’d get a centicow, of course.
The Centicow
A warning for bedtime,
you sisters and brudders:
the centicow tickles
your face with her udders.
When it’s lighttime she hides
under covers and sheets,
at night she emerges
toting hundreds of teats.
If you feel one don’t move
and don’t start boo-hooing,
just relax and enjoy
the sound of her mooing.
Keep milking pails handy,
you better have plenty,
and cookies for dunking.
