When we left off last week, Ellie and her Grandma Clara were having a conversation in Clara’s garden about whether dung beetles had souls. It was Sunday evening, just before dinnertime, which was the time each week when souls switched to new bodies.
That very same day, across the island, something unusual happened: The body of the king welcomed in the soul of the king.
It was a moment the kingbody had been waiting for, and it was the start of all the trouble.
