Heya <<First Name>>,
The more I explore the subject of reading aloud, the more I discover what an endlessly good thing it is.
Here’s a quote from “Inside Picture Books,” by Ellen Handler Spitz.
“To read, to sing, to mediate between a young child’s psychic world and the surrounding culture is to experience one of life’s great joys. In doing so, we introduce elements of what matters deeply to us to those who will live on after us, we participate in the transmission of culture from one generation to the next.”
(Emphasis mine.)
Who knew we were doing such powerful work?!
I hope you’re doing great. As always, let me know if you’ve read aloud any good books lately — I’ll add them to our recommendations page.
One other thing
A handful of readers will be receiving an invitation to an online course from parenting expert (and friend of 320 Sycamore Studios) Melissa Benaroya.
Whether or not you sign up, we’ll be sharing lots of great information on raising readers, managing screen time, when to buy a smartphone, and more.
Happy reading,
