Heya <<First Name>>,
You know that saying, “To a man with only a hammer, every problem looks like a nail”?
Well, for me it’s, “To a man with only books, every problem looks like a lack of reading.”*
Ahem.
Anyway … I was listening to Timothy Snyder’s book “On Tyranny” last week and I came across this quote:
“Avoid pronouncing the phrases everyone else does. Think up your own way of speaking, even if only to convey that thing you think everyone is saying. Make an effort to separate yourself from the internet. Read books.”
“Whoa,” I thought. “Reading with kids can solve EVERYTHING.”
It fosters a love of reading. … Which helps us develop our critical thinking. … Which helps us fight tyrants.
Nice.
Happy reading,
… who believe that reading with kids can change the world for the better.
*Apparently, I’ve got a bad case of whatever this condition is. I had a dream a couple nights ago where I was throwing books at a gang of bad guys who were chasing me.
