Hi, <<First Name>>.
It’s Jeff. Along with Bob, I’m one of the co-founders of 320 Sycamore Studios.
(There’s more about us here, if you’re curious.)
For anyone who just downloaded a copy of “Ooh Odd Zoo” or “Goodnight Tomb,” welcome!
To give you a heads-up, we send out free stories every Thursday. (This week, look for more of “Scar and the Wolf,” our middle reader zombie take on “Little Red Riding Hood.”)
And if you’re wondering, “Free stories? What’s the catch?” There isn’t one. 🙂
Of course, if you like a story, we hope you’ll buy a physical copy or a Kindle version. But we basically want to make it as easy as possible for grownups to read with kids. We think it can change the world.
More or less.
Seattle to Southern Utah
A few days ago, I drove the 1,100-ish miles from Seattle down to Escalante, Utah, to do the most cliched writer thing I could think of: Work from a cabin for a couple months.
This year, fate tossed a bunch of curveballs my way, from the happy (my youngest starting college), to the sad (the passing of my cat, Juno*), to the bittersweet (the ending of a “job” job). Plus COVID.
Suddenly, all the mooring lines tethering me to Seattle were either slack or severed.
So here I am till mid-December. Writing, reading, and rambling around the slickrock countryside, trying not to get lost.
Alarming
Since I’m so hopelessly distractible …
… and since the iPhone is so utterly tempting …
… and since getting up is hard enough already …
I recently bought an analog alarm clock.
It helps keep the shiny objects corralled each morning.
For a while, anyway.
Happy reading,
Jeff and Bob Co-founders, 320 Sycamore Studios
*Here’s Juno. I miss that little cross-eyed wobbler.
